TurkMiS Workshop: “Researching the Multiple Dimensions of Syrian Refugees’
Lives in Turkey”, Berlin, 24 June 2019
From the outbreak of the civil war in Syria in
2011 and the proliferation of DAESH in Iraq large numbers of displaced persons
escaped to Turkey. Most of these were Syrians. Initially, they were granted a
‘temporary protection status’ though it has become increasingly obvious that
the case has become a protracted refugee situation. This raises a number of
questions ranging from the various dimensions of integration to peoples’
ambitions for their future.
