The 9th workshop on Arab media is focusing on the current refugee situation. We will
particularly discuss less researched aspects such as Arab discourses on Arab
migration and the role of Arab (social) media in the processes of migration.

history, and methods and theories by scholars engaged in the study of the pre-modern

We welcome papers from all disciplines that study emotions, imaginations and
communities in, of and across the Medieval Mediterranean. How were emotions
produced, expressed and communicated? To what end were imaginations used and abused?
In what ways were communities perceived and understood? What communalities and
particularities are there? Which challenges do the literary, historical,
archaeological and other sources pose in this respect?

Cette Summer School entend offrir, dans un temps limité de travail intensif, des

of "Mashriq and Mahjar: Journal of Middle East Migration Studies"
 
In this special issue, we conceptualize the impact of migration on transnational
governance as having a two-part, mutually reinforcing dynamic: How Arab states have
sought to "govern" their diasporas; and how diasporas have in turn sought to
influence governance in the sending states.
