Grants of the Orient-Institut Istanbul
The grants support field research in Istanbul by PhD
students not living in Turkey in one of the research areas of the Institute:
1. Musicological research on the Ottoman Empire and
Turkey 2. Narrative sources on Istanbul and the Ottoman Empire 3. Historic and
contemporary forms of religious expression in Anatolia since the 11th century
4. Manuscript cultures in the Ottoman Empire and Iran 5. Human, medicine, and
society The award consists of a monthly stipend of € 1,100 for up to six months
the reimbursement of travel expenses. Start of the scholarship should be at
latest 1 November 2019.
