and the Middle East”, German Development Institute (DIE), Bonn
 
Master or equivalent, preferably PhD in a social science, in-depth knowledge of
economics, comprehensive knowledge of politics, economy, society and culture of the
countries of North Africa and the Middle East, work and study experience in these
countries, as well as excellent skills of written and spoken German and English are
required. Good knowledge of Arabic and/or French is preferred.

Technology, Zürich
 
Successful candidates are expected to write a PhD thesis in a field relating to the
main research foci of the chair History of the Modern World. Applicants should hold
an M.A. within an area relevant to the study of modern global history. Applicants of
English mother tongue with sound knowledge of at least one relevant non-European
language, and with advanced experience in information technologies and web design
are given preference.

7. Postdoc Position in Islamic Studies: "Perceptions of the Figure of the Prophet
Muhammad", Sorbonne University, Paris
 
This one-year position is starting on 1 September 2016 within the framework of the
“Islamologie” program of the Laboratory of Excellence « Religions and Societies in
the Mediterranean ». The candidate should have defended his/her PhD before 8 April
2016 – and the earliest 10 years before this date – in History of Religious Islamic
Thought, Islamic Studies, Religious Studies, or any field related to the research
theme.

8. Lecturer in the History of the Pre-Modern Middle East, SOAS, University of London

Our first preference is for an appointment in the history of the Middle East before
1500.  Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant subject area and have a
demonstrated record of research excellence in the field of pre-modern Middle Eastern

10. 12 PhD Scholarships for Research Training Group “Literary Form: History and
Culture of Aesthetic Modelling”, University of Muenster, Germany  
 
The Research Training Group is a cooperation of eight literature departments
(Arabic, English, German, Medieval German, French/Italian/Spanish, Dutch, Slavonic,
Classical Philology). Its focus is on the re-interpretation and expansion of the
concept of ‘literary form’ by means of a transdisciplinary model theory. The
scholarships will start on 1 October 2016 for at least 30 months.

Concerns and Challenges”
 
The book is intended to provide a notable contribution to environmental scholarship
in Turkey through high-quality, interdisciplinary papers, which can be used not only
as a valuable information source but also as tools to support teaching and research
and, as an added value, help to assist in decision-making. It particularly focuses
on the key themes of Turkish environmental politics to conceptualize
