20.  Session on "Negotiating Monumentality: Monuments and the Politics of Public Space in Muslim Societies" during the Conference of the European Association for Urban History, Antwerp, 2-5 September 2020

We invite papers that probe particular cases (from the 19th until the 21st century) from Muslim societies in which the role of monuments/monumentality in triggering colonial/anti-colonial/post-colonial politicizations of urban space can be analyzed. 35.  Call for Projects in the Priority Program "Transottomanica: Eastern European-Ottoman-Persian Mobility Dynamics" for 2020-2023

The program will focus on the "Transottoman" ties and communication practices which emerged as a con-sequence of mobility between these dominions between the 16th and the 19th centuries and which have not previously become visible in studies of individual regions or bilateral relations. Non-German nationals can apply, but need an affiliation with a university or research institution in Germany.

These internships will enable students to engage in cultural diplomacy and in doing so, to further promote cultural diplomacy and multiculturalism worldwide. The internship is open to currently enrolled students who need this internship as a compulsory component of their academic studies or participants of the ERASMUS program. The voluntary internships are full time, unpaid, last 2-3 months. Applicants must have good spoken and written English.
