"Towards New Social Contracts in MENA Countries? Prospects for Economic
and Social Policy Reform, better Governance and National Dialogues" at the
26th Annual Congress of the German Middle East Studies Association (DAVO),

The panels will
analyze the question what types of social contracts have emerged after the Arab
uprisings 2011 and what do these imply for the coming years. The first part of
the panel will deal with MENA countries that sustained their statehood
(Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia), the second will deal
with MENA countries that have descended into civil wars (Yemen, Libya, Syria).

Master Program on "Middle Easter Sociology/Anthropology and History"
with Academic Double Degree and Semester Abroad in Lebanon Funded by the DAAD
Historical
change, cultural diversity and political change in the Middle East are among
the central subjects of the binational Master Program (MESH) that is currently
carried out by the University of Erfurt, Germany and Université Saint-Joseph,
Beirut. MESH is especially suited for graduates of Arab and Islamic Studies, as
well as of History, Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnology and Political Sciences.
