4. Conference on "Reading the
Dust" and "Shaking the Open Spaces": Subversive and Opposing Elements
in Modern Arabic Literature”, Bar-Ilan University, 29 April 2015
The poetry of Adunis may be
seen to reflect the state of the writer and of the individual in modern
Arab society, living within various conflicts such as imitation vs.
innovation, traditional vs. modern art, and the
old vs. the new. It may also well reflect the innovative and subversive
elements which have always existed in modern Arabic literature, asking
to break conventions and spread new revolutionary ideas.
The conference organized by
the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University aims at focusing on
these elements, studying the dynamics of their birth and understanding
the thematic and stylistic changes they brought,
and are still bringing, into modern Arabic literature.
Deadline for proposals in Arabic, Hebrew or English: 1 January 2015 to be sent to the conference organizer Dr Dorit Gottesfeld:
gottes-r@zahav.net.il
