2. Conference and Edited Volume: "9/11 and the Academy", Emory & Henry College, Virginia, 6-7 November 2015

Conveners: Professors Mark Finney and Matthew Shannon, . The goal of this conference is to facilitate an interdisciplinary conversation about the influence that 9/11 has had on the humanities; visual and performing arts; and the social, physical, and natural sciences. Papers may include following subjects: How has critical scholarship changed across the disciplines since 9/11 and the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq? How have disciplinary methodologies changed (or not) since 9/11? Etc.

3. Research Fellow / Project Manager, "Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law" in Heidelberg (MENA Projects)

MPFPR projects focus on capacity-building and academic research in the fields of public international law, comparative constitutional law and the rule of law in countries in transition. Research fellows are engaged in legal research, the organisation and conducting of project activities such as workshops, as well as liaising with local project partners.

Required qualifications:  Advanced degree in Law is required;  Extensive knowledge of public international law, human rights law and comparative constitutional law;  Ability to deliver high-level academic work; Fluency in English and Arabic is required (written and oral); etc.

Candidates sought within Arabic Linguistics or Philology.  By Arabic linguistics we mean scientific studies using modern linguistic theories and methods to gain knowledge about the Arabic language in a historical or synchronic perspective.  By Arabic philology we understand specializations in the history of literature, religion or language history with a clear philological or linguistic approach.  Candidates with documented qualifications in one or more of the Middle East languages in addition to Arabic and competence within Arabic culture in a broad sense will be preferred.
