3. Conference: "Rapprochement, Change, Perception and Shaping the Future: 50 Years

4. International Conference: "Spectres of Justice: The Aesthetics of Dealing with
Violent Pasts", University of Marburg, 28-30 May 2015

This conference focuses on the relations between the arts and processes of
Transitional Justice. It explores the role of cultural production in phases of
socio-political transition as well as the aesthetics which shape the discourse of
Transitional Justice and the implementation of specific instruments such as truth
commissions or tribunals. The conference is part of the activities of the research
network "Re-Configurations. History, Remembrance and Transformation Processes in the
Middle East & North Africa".

5. St Andrews Third Biennial Conference on Syria: "Moving Beyond the Stalemate," St.

Diversity, University of Goettingen

The successful candidate will explore Internet enabled new media practices and
political Islam among the South Asian diaspora in the UK and Germany. Ethnographic
fieldwork among the diasporic Islamic communities and major organizations for
political Islam connected to South Asia is expected. A background in Islamic studies
or proficiency in Urdu/Arabic is desired.

Three excellent doctoral students will be recruited whose areas of specialisation
fit and complement the research interests of the Centre. These prestigious awards

16. Teaching Fellowship for the Konrad Adenauer Chair for Academic Excellence in

This is a two-week teaching fellowship. This summer semester (June-August) , it will
be hosted by the Ibrahim Abu Lughod Institute for International Studies (IALIIS).
Interested and eligible candidates, with at least 2 years of graduate teaching
experience on global issues related the evolution of international society, forced
migration and refugees, regional and diplomatic studies, international humanitarian
and human rights law, as well as peace and conflict resolution studies, are

17. Ottoman and Turkish Summer Program, Koc University, Istanbul, 6 July - 13 August
2015

The  brand new intensive summer program is held at the Research Center for Anatolian
Civilizations (RCAC) in Beyoǧlu, Istanbul. The program is open to graduate students
interested in continuing their study of Ottoman, and will also provide additional
courses in both Persian and Turkish languages.  Participants should have studied at
least one year of Ottoman Turkish, with knowledge of Arabic and/or Persian
preferred.
